I believe this question has been asked before. There is a control
panel in Blender in a panel at the top of the screen by default, or
select the [i] menu on the far left of any of the panels onscreen.

The panel shows a set of buttons to configure Blender. Select the 
[ System & Open GL ]
button and you will see a set of sub-controls:
Solid OpenGL Light:
Win Codecs (Windows)
Audio Mixing Buffer:
Keyboard: [ Emulate Numpad ][ Disable Caps Lock ]
System:
OpenGL:

The Keyboard: [ Emulate Numpad ] button will cause the qwerty-layout
numeric keys to act as an alternate for the numpad.
