What kind of system do you have? Enough RAM, Fast enough processor?
Although this is pretty obvious, your system will be very sluggish if your
computer is running say an Intel Pentium 3 with only 256Mb of RAM over a new
Quad Core and 4Gb of RAM.  Also, if your graphics card cannot handle OpenGL,
or you don't have the proper drivers installed for it, anything with
realtime graphics viewing will be sluggish.

Could you just confirm that your computer is up to date and with the proper
hardware (ie graphics card) installed?
