Curtis, > Exactly what is the relationship between Glasgow and Cinepaint? Glasgow is a rewrite of CinePaint that was implemented at the University of Glasgow with EU funding. I was not involved in that project, except for being promised the code would be turned over when they were done. When the Glasgow code was turned over to us, it would not build. It needed a lot of re-organization to enable it to build in a general way without a lot of linker warnings. After doing that work I made the code available on SF. No other developers who tried Glasgow have gotten very far with it. There is no design documentation. The code is commented, but of the self-evident variety that senior developers may not find useful. Current CinePaint development efforts are in the Film Gimp codebase. How to build, install and QA CinePaint properly are the big issues. What to do with Glasgow next is an open question. Maybe when we get the build/install problems sorted, we can start to migrate to it. > The website only says that the Cinepaint Windows build is "broken". > Specifically, which project (Cinepaint or Glasgow) and how is it > "broken". Is it just the build, or are there module API problems with > Windows? Glasgow and Film Gimp will both build on Windows. Glasgow is very incomplete, only has some core features. With Film Gimp, the Windows issues are related to GTK and threads and not easily fixed. After a long break, I'm working on that again using a new approach. As a volunteer project manager, I can't give CinePaint the time I would a commercial project. Progress may continue to be slow until we find a sponsor who believes in CinePaint.
