no,  I know about '.dng'; it's definitely '.dnp'. The filenames
go something like this:

Canon DIGITAL IXUS 500 (ISO100 ; 3bpp; 2592x1944; 1by40s).dnp

Unfortunately, I cannot open those files (I tried 'vi', so far).
