[CinePaint] attching data to an image

Hi
When I open an image with a plugin I wrote, I want to save header info
and then reproduce the header (with tiny mods) when I save the file.

I came across "parasites". Is this supported in cinepaint, or was this a
GIMP 2.0 creation? If it's not supported, how elsae could I do this?
