I had the same problem with the Mandriva Cinepaint rpm.   If you
download the tarball, compiling is pretty straightforward - indeed, you
have to disable print if you don't want it.  I can't be certain, but I
think it depends on the option "--enable-gtk2 option" (without the quote
marks).
