It is true that YCbCr provides an opportunity for a larger color gammut, but standard Rec.709 video does not use it, and there is no standard/effective way to use extended gammut because your monitor can't show it to you. The Rec.709 video model depends on the ability to convert from RGB to YCbCr and back again with minimal visible loss.
