Although this does not happen to me using Cinepaint,
I sometimes have similar occurrences with other software.
Using the mouse to grab either edge (left or right) of
the window and then moving the hidden parts into view
is sometimes necessary.  (The result may depend on your
window manager.)

Cinepaint has included color management for "normal" users
for a long time now.  In fact, virtually all serious
image processing *requires* color management.

Color profiles have to be supplied by the user.  The directory
which contain the profiles has to be set in Preferences/Directories.
Once this is done, then the profiles will appear in the
Preferences/Color Management window.

Gimp-color-manager-0.0.7.tar.gz is not needed.  That is
a very old plug-in for the Gimp (which I could not ever
get to work), but Cinepaint currently has color management
built in to the software.

If you want to get familiar with color management, there
are *lots* of resources available on the Internet.  Some
are simple and some are highly technical, but there is a
lot of information that is freely available.  Also, the
Cinepaint wiki has a page on color management.  In my
opinion, everyone who processes images should be knowledgeable
in this area.
