[CinePaint] Open source "Chyron" video titler?

Hi,

I'm researching to put together an open source video-titling system that
will be database driven.
The purpose is to automatically drive video displays at a conference
showing upcoming sessions, general announcements, etc.

One thought is to write an ajax program for a browser that will pull
(and refresh) html from a server for display. Then have the browser be
in full-screen mode.

But that solution, while reasonably straight-forward, limits me to gif
style animations, and (more importantly) no scrolling of content.

I suppose a flash client would be another option but I know nothing
about flash programming.

Any other suggestions?

Is this something Cinepaint makes sense for?

Thank you for your thoughts,

Larry K
