YES!  This is almost exactly what I need.  Except it is time consuming
to make the 'average' image, so I would rather be able to create the
average using small thumbnails, calculate the adjustment parameters
using the thumbnails, and then apply the adjustment parameters to the
full image.  Unfortunately, I don't see any information on how they do
what they do, but I have a good place to start looking.  Thank you!!!
