I had this problem with CVS.  To correct, edit the file
/opt/cinepaint/share/cinepaint/0.22-0/gimprc

Change the $datarootdir variable to "/opt/cinepaint"

These messages are harmless.  They pop up all over my terminals all
the time.  They are emiited, I believe by GTK and not cinepaint.
