thanks for your report.

The console messages from gtk dont tell me much.
If you enable the debug mode during configure time,
with the option --enable-debug, you could generate
gdb stack traces and useful valgrind output. This sort
of stuff is more appropriate to the developers list.

But first the simple questions:

Which system do you run? OS, Gtk, platform.

Which CinePaint version exactly?

Can you create a new image in CinéPaint to paint on?

Does other Gtk imaging applications work?
