I'm really sorry, it seems I misunderstood. I thought you were
responding to an earlier email of mine in this thread. I'm having
trouble getting Cinepaint 0.2.2 to compile. (The Ubuntu package does not
have printing compiled in for some reason, and so far no response from
them.) Below is my email from previously:

On ubuntu, gutenprintui seems to be called gutenprintui2, so I created a
link. I'm not sure that is the problem? I've had a look at the latest
tarball of gutenprint and it seems to be the same.
