Many thanks Louis and Kai-Uwe.  That's done the trick. I have
cinepaint working with my chosen subset of profiles.

Naturally it was my fault! I absent mindedly included
eciRGB_v2_ICCv4.icc in my chosen subset of profiles as I did not know
what it was and planned to give it a try in due course.  I shall be
more patient with this now.
