No, there is no option for this (and there shouldn't be one probably, if 
it can be done it should be done automatically whenever necessary). If 
it's possible (that's quite a big if) it technically shouldn't be too 
difficult to do, unless it's not properly documented. There's a lot of 
savage versions out there, it might work on all/some/none. Short term, 
there is probably a lot more interest in making buffer allocation 
smarter (i.e. non-static, non full resolution), not least because that's 
something which can be applied to all drivers (all drivers still would 
need changes but basically a copy & paste job), and the current buffer 
allocation scheme is really crap (but simple).
