i got one too , there's an open bug in bugs.gentoo.org
that you should be aware of but ati-drivers >= 8.28.8
and 2.6.18 dosent compile right without manually patching
and the version that does  compile well : support for
the 9250 has been dropped by ati in 8.29.6
