Roland suggested some idea to play with. To try Roland idea you
might want to play with memory configuration reg in ddx i can
remember of hand the name of thus reg but basicly you want to
try to slown down the speed (warning this are touchy reg make
sure you understand what you do).

You may also try set PCI latency to something high, fglrx set
it to the max IIRC and we don't at least last time i check. You
can do that by issuing :

setpci -d <vendorid>:<deviceid> latency_timer=255

vendorid is ATI vendor id and deviceid is your videocard device id
both are shown in lspci output. I think you have to run setpci as root.
