Any Debug flags?

I've been getting crash after crash, but most don't fully bring the system down. Yet there's never anything unusual in the logs. I'd like to know how to compile Debug flags or whatever I need to do to get information on what's going on. I'm using the xf86-driver-ati from git, and I'm always getting latest. This is on a was-clean Ubuntu Edgy installation. My card is the ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY card.
