Hi all. I have a couple of questions which are not answered on the site. First, let me explain that I have an ati rage128 card and ubuntu 6.06. I was not satisfied of the acceleration which came by default: it was slower and gave me problems with respect to the oldeer, but still working distribution on my pc (a mandriva 2005LE). So I updated dri, as explained in the site http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Mesa/Dri?highlight=%28mesa/dri%29 Basically, I downloaded common-20060403-linux.i386.tar.bz2 rage128-20060403-linux.i386.tar.bz2 I uncompressed them, and ran the install.sh The first was ok. For the second, I get an error. The log says +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ make DRM_MODULES=r128.o modules make[1]: Entering directory `/home/stumbo/download/rage128-20060403-linux.i386/drm/linux-core' make -C /lib/modules/2.6.15-26-k7/build SUBDIRS=`pwd` DRMSRCDIR=`pwd` modules make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.15-26-k7' Building modules, stage 2. MODPOST make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.15-26-k7' make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/stumbo/download/rage128-20060403-linux.i386/drm/linux-core' WARNING: Error inserting drm (/lib/modules/2.6.15-26-k7/kernel/drivers/char/drm/drm.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) FATAL: Error inserting r128 (/lib/modules/2.6.15-26-k7/kernel/drivers/char/drm/r128.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Now I result in no kind of acceleration: much worse than before. Second (and most important) question: assume I want to go back to my previous configuration. How do I do this? There is no uninstall script, nor a "uninstall" option in the install.sh script. I can't realize what has been done during install... And, after having uninstalled it (if I will be able...) how do I recover the previous files? Did the install overwrite some file from some package that needs then to be reinstalled? And which? Thank you a lot for your help.
