You can start by downgrading Mesa, since that's much less invasive than 
downgrading your kernel or X.  If you find an older version of Mesa works, 
then use git bisect to find the Mesa commit that caused it to break on your 
system.

If downgrading Mesa doesn't have any effect, then you'll have to try DRM 
(which is part of the kernel) and/or DDX (which is part of X).
