I had the same issue once. I found a soultion elsewhere.. (google?)

If I recall correctly, it boiled down to compiling everything from SVN 
versions (perhaps a specific version, but try head first!). And yes, the 
error message is somewhat misleading.

I know that this is pretty vague, but hopefully it helps!
