DVD::rip slow to rip

Hi,

I'm attempting to copy a DVD I own and so far 60% has been ripped and it's
taken an hour and a half!
I've checked if DMA is enabled on my DVD, which it is, and it isn't set to
encode on the fly.

Can anyone offer any help please?
