Transcode cluster mode

Currently the dvdrip gui for clustering transcode (debian system)
requires it to be started as root, this presents a problem when using a
user mapped NFS share for the temp space area, in that the cluster
control files are written as root, and subsequently present permissions
problems later in the process, is there any way around this?
