Hi. I installed openSuSE 11.1 when it was released mid Dec./08. I got
Devede, DVD::rip, etc. via Packman.de....easy to do using YAST. I made many
DVD's [mostly DL] in the weeks since...some playing 11-14 hours thanks to
Devede's wonderful 'adjust disk usage' button. DVD::rip certainly is
full-featured and a pleasure to use. Some similar apps usually produce video
with sound out of sync and have nowhere near the options of DVD::rip.
Unfortunately last week I inadvertantly created a no-sound condition with my
computer. Not being able to solve it, I ended-up formatting my / partition
and re-installed openSuSE 11.1. Sound problem solved,..but when using
DVD::rip the app correctly advises/warns me that it has detected Transcode
1.1.0 which is in the 'experimental' stage for DVD::rip. Failure happens
every time at the initial ripping process. Earlier versions of Transcode
have been removed from Packman and are not available at any of the other
repositories I have in my list compiled in YAST. So I guess I'll end up not
using DVD::rip untill it works with the latest version of Transcode. I'd
send you a small donation, but it would have to be by way of mailed money
order since I now live 'Credit card-less' !!! Thanks for your time and good
work. In Canada............John
