get blank page

Hi,

I have an ISO file on my disk and would like to convert it to an avi file.
When I start dvd::rip on a AMD64 computer with Ubuntu 11.04 operating
system, I get the first blue graphical screen about dvd::rip then I get a
blank screen and nothing happens ever I wait many minutes.
I re-installed the latest version of dvd::rip from Ubuntu software center
and still nothing happens. How do I solve this problem?
