Well I thought I did, but it turns out I can't reproduce it.  I
certainly see a few related issues, so it might be a race condition.
I'm hesitant to start changing things until I can reproduce it.

Can you tell me if you still see the problem with a current svn checkout
of kaa.base?  Also, what versions of Python and pygtk are you using?
