You'd be surprised; GL acceleration on consumer cards mostly sucks for
anything except 3d games.  OS X doesn't use it for anything at all
except accelerated blitting (i.e., moving pixels from point A to
point B, no vectors involved at all), and MS is now busily trying to
convince the graphics cards developers to completely redo their
hardware and drivers in order to support Longhorn...
