These are available from the same page as the html archives -- eg, on
http://lists.fresco.org/pipermail/fresco-devel/ , try the "download
the full raw archive" link to get the whole thing, or for monthly
mboxes, use the links in the "Downloadable version" column (that look
like "[ Text 149 KB ]").

We also have a search engine at http://search.fresco.org, but it looks
like Stefan's recent changes broke it again, so it might be up and
down for a while as we stabilize the new site :-)

We don't have any concrete plans for a DirectX/Quicktime-like
multimedia library (and are these really the same?  I thought DirectX
competed with OpenGL, not Quicktime?).  Multimedia support would be
great, though, and there's been some discussion in the past of how we
would do this (eg, discussions of a proposed "AudioKit" -- see
http://wiki.fresco.org/index.cgi/AudioKit ).  It's a somewhat
complicated problem, but pretty orthogonal to everything else in the
server, so it could be a good thing to work on for someone who isn't
ready to get down and dirty with the rest of the server internals.

The only ways I can think of where server internals might become
critical are proper color support (which we don't have yet, but
should), and possibly some of the optimization issues involved in
making a good video playback widget.  Both of these can be safely
ignored at first, though :-)
