Two things: Neither PS nor PDF were developed with Displays in mind. Check 
GNUstep for the curious workarounds they need to take because of that to use 
hardware acceleration properly. Like converting curves to PS, pass that to 
the backend, convert it back to a curve and render that.

Another thing is that neither (Display) PS nor PDF support 3D graphics. Our 
system can.
