I'm not entering the debate, just nitpicking on this one. DisplayPDF (and stuff based on Postscript like NeWS) didn't use Postscipt or PDF to archive its resolution independance. Notice the only one using DisplayPDF? Apple. Right. WHat is their main market? The print market. Having something that looks identical on screen as it was on paper is a huge feature. Heck, pre-OS X, classic Mac OS had a feature like this, only not to the extend on Mac OS X. Then we look at the most recent case of such usage, Sun. Why did they use DisplayPDF? Their deal with NeXT of course. :-) Using DisplayPDf to achieve resolution independance is like using a truck to go for a nice drive to Wal Mart to get some groceries. --- "M.
