Ok. How would you go about changing that? I guess it means editing the 
configure.ac file, since that's what generates the configure file where 
the CXXFLAGS are set, which means finding out about all the AC_* macros.

No problem. I've been looking around for a Linux project to try out. Had 
a look at subversion for a while but didn't like their coding style. Not 
saying its wrong, I just didn't like it. They are also C only. Had a 
look into XFree but decided against it - 300 mb download via cvs put me 
of. It's also old.
