There's allways our IRC channel (#fresco on freenode.net). It's not better, but sometimes faster (if you are lucky and don't pick a time when everybody is just idleing out). > I > downloaded Fresco and successfully compiled it, Congratulations. > but at > the end of the process there was no /bin or /lib > directory where I had compiled-- all libraries and > binaries were in the subdirectories of various > components (eg $build_dir/Prague/lib ), That's right. Either you come up with a long LD_LIBRARY_PATH or you make install to put everything into one directory tree. Make sure to configure using a --prefix or everything will end up in /usr/local! All this should be explained in the INSTALL file right in the top of your source directory. > and also I > could not find any binary called "server" The server got renamed to 'berlin' after our packagers complained that 'server' is to generic a name to put into a /usr/bin. > To compile, I just typed "configure" and then "make" > in the unpacked directory I downloaded. We do try to encourage people not to build in the sourcetree but to create a separate directory which will then hold all the files greated during build.
