First of all, there was an interesting discussion on /. about the new QT book and the license of the non-commercial version for windows: http://books.slashdot.org/books/04/01/28/1749200.shtml?tid=126&tid=156&tid=185&tid=188&tid=192 This posting contains the exact non-commercial license: http://books.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=94616&threshold=1&commentsort=0&tid=126&tid=156&tid=185&tid=188&tid=192&mode=thread&cid=8120896 Seems to me that we can use the version of the book and distribute a binary windows release with the qt dll. But I'm not 100% sure,. §10, §11, and the definition of "Redistributables" in Appendix 1 seem to be the most relevant pieces. What happens if someone *without* the non-commercial license wants to develop for gephex on windows? (Let's say he just works on parts of gephex that have nothing to do with the gui). Will this violate the QT license? Do we have to split the gui into an extra component for that purpose? Second, there seems to be a problem with our license in gephex--main--0.4. Following this information from trolltech: http://www.trolltech.com/download/qt/download_noncomm.html we would have to add an excetion to our license, something like "As a special exception, <name of copyright holder> gives permission to link this program with Qt non-commercial edition, and distribute the resulting executable, without including the source code for the Qt non-commercial edition in the source distribution." that's all, georg
