Hello, Ell

Spoke to soon. I logged out, logged back in and tried again, and it 
finally started. Strange, since I did "su - steve" in a terminal 
directly before I tried starting GIMP from GIT. In any even, I can begin 
rotating pictures from our recent trip to England...
