I managed to switch off the messages (and also compiled my app with -mwindows), and this made a big difference! FWIW, it happens with "MS Sans Serif 8" even without using the wimp engine. > Are the messages you describe above being printed while resizing? Yes, and a great many of them. They even get printed if you just move the pointer over the GtkTextArea. IMHO it might be a good idea to rate-limit them somehow.
