I don't think so. GIMP works fine using GTK 1.3.0 and GLib 2.2.1. If
you have hard evidence of some incompatibility between GTK 1.3.0 and
GLib 2.2.1, please specify.

Otherwise I would say that "OK, doesn't harm to use GLib 1.2.x with
GTK 1.3.0, that corresponds to what you do on Unix, where you use GLib
1.2.x with GTK 1.2.x. But, in the case of Windows, you should realize
that there has been Win32-related bug fixes now and then in GLib, and
2.2.1 is better than the earlier versions were.

(Besides, where would you find GLib 1.2.x ported to Windows? I think
the earliest 1.x version you can reasonably expect to find, would be
1.3.something, and that *is* already a significant development from
the 1.2.x you would use on Unix with GTK 1.2.x. GLib 1.3.x was the
development version leading to 2.0, so why not use the latest 2.x
then...)
