lost newbie

hello everybody, i'm a poor french student who need to make a 
modeling program using gtk and opengl, so I need th gtkglarea 
library, and i can't manage to find it...
I'm complete begginner with gtk, i just downloaded dev cpp and 
devexp, so i can compile some gtk 1.3 on my PC, but I can't find the 
gtkglarea lib that goes with it.
I heard there where some compaticilty problems between different gtk 
or gtkglarea versions, but i don't know more about this.

could anybody help me getting started, telling me where to download 
gtkglarea, and how to compile programs using this??
