gtk-2.0 on win95

I've had a report of some rather weird behavior of my gtk-2.0 app on
"Windows 95 4.00.950B" (aka Jurassic Park ;-).  Various pixmaps are
not showing up (some of them created explicitly using
gdk_pixmap_colormap_create_from_xpm_d(), and some of them standard
parts of the gtk apparatus (e.g. cursors).  I have a toolbar with
pixmap buttons, and the screenshot the user sent me shows just a few
dots where the pixmaps should be.

Any ideas on what might be going on here?  Thanks.  (This is with the
2.0.6 September gtk release.)
