I htink gtk2 should be more well supported in windows
why because then one cross platform things
the other is gtk should by now compete with qt. qt is nice but i hate C++ 
why I dont know why.
gtk programming is far simpler.

and since in my new project i am making a both windows and linux version I 
would use gtk.
