I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean we should use, for example, 185:100 
rather than 1.85:1?
Is there a reason for using the integral ratios rather than the decimal 
values? Does the GIMP do the calculations differently?

Or are you referring to entering simply 1.85 (which seems to have no effect 
anyway)?
