I installed Ubuntu 7.10 a couple of weeks ago, first the regular one,
then later I changed my mind and installed Ubuntu Studio 7.10 from the
alternate DVD on a clean drive. In both cases GIMP 2.4.0-rc3 was
installed by default, not 2.2.x-rcy. Are you sure you got the old 2.2
release candidate? Or did you perharps install Ubuntu 7.04? But I
installed 7.04 a couple of months ago, maybe in july or something, and
I am pretty sure that I got the 2.2 version that was NOT a release
candidate.
