GIMP and Vista

Can anyone explain to me why Vista doesn't recognize GIMP-created JPEG
images for desktop backgrounds? The same images worked fine in XP, and
it appears to have no trouble images created with Irfanview (or,
presumably, MS Photo-whatever, which I hate), but GIMP is so much
better.
