I wish that I new more about this topic, particularly since the clip path support was developed by a GraphicsMagick team member, but alas I don't. Given the use of the term "8BIM" it seems that this format is often stored within Adobe Photoshop attached profiles. Other comments lead me to believe that the clipping path is defined in Postscript syntax rather than SVG. Postscript vector syntax and SVG vector syntax are fairly similar. The "MVG" syntax that GraphicsMagick uses internally is also fairly similar so text transformations can be used to convert from Postscript vectors to MVG vectors. There is support within the Postscript Level III coder (coders/ps3.c) for saving this clipping path in a Postscript file. It seems that the best reference is likely Adobe's Postscript specification, which is a free download from Adobe's web site.
