As far as I am aware, the main sticking point is getting GM 1.3.13 
released. :-)

Libpng 1.5 intentionally modified its API to hide structure members so 
that applications become less dependent on its interface.

I have not personally tested with libpng 1.5 but hope that Glenn 
completed the fixes to work with it.
