Related to APIs: how did it come that some of the APIs take doubles for
their params, (say, motion blur, w/ radius, sigma, direction) and others
take a string that's parsed internally (eg: modulate)? The "modulate"
class functions also operate directly on the image (versus returning
a new one) and don't use the Exception struct. Am curious about the
history or reason for the differences.
