It would be wise to schedule large interface changes for a
GraphicsMagick 2.0 release. The current code will be targeted for
another 1.3 (1.3.13) release, which is very much needed in order to
catch up on bug-fixes and other support issues. Another 1.3 release
can be rolled out immediately by various OS distributions since it
will be ABI compatible with already installed libraries. A "2.0"
release would take two or three years to make it into stable OS
variants.

I have been doing what I can to improve the insides of GraphicsMagick
without disturbing the public interface. For example, I have tried to
rationalize error reporting as much as possible so that it can be
reported by an ExceptionInfo argument rather than to some default
place.
