In some areas of the configure script the script needs to triple-escape paths in order to survive the various expansions and re-parsing. We are already supporting Windows paths for MinGW. You can imagine that supporting paths with backslashes poses additional challenges for a shell environment. If there is some area of the GraphicsMagick script which can be identified as the cause of the problem, please bring it to my attention so I can fix it.
