gm convert bla.jpg bla.pdf multiplies SEVENFOLD the file's size !

I used "gm convert" on a picture, to make it into a pdf, and it grew from
521 ko to 3.8 Mo. I used to compile entire books with hundreds of pictures
before to put them in my Kindle, now it's over.
Also, no way to compile more than 50, maybe, pictures at once. A setting I
can't override since there's no policy.xml anymore, and there is no clue
anywhere as to the syntax of the .magick file mentioned in the manual
(thought not mentioned on the website).
