Please note that GraphicsMagick was originally based on ImageMagick as 
it existed in November 2002, and it has been several years since then. 
Since that time, there has been a vast amount of bug-fixing and 
re-writing in GraphicsMagick.

I tested a with your convert command 50 times using GraphicsMagick and 
never observed the error.
