It could perhaps be worked around by providing a C++ language version of gm (e.g. gm.cc) in the case where libfpx is found. Libfpx is known to work properly under SPARC Solaris and Windows. It fails in strange ways under Linux and FreeBSD. Perhaps one reason for the Linux/FreeBSD linkage problem is due to using the C compiler to do the link rather than C++. > (BTW it was libfpx-1.2.0.9, and though _UNIX was automatically defined, I > had to define __unix. Should s/__unix/_UNIX/g in libfpx-1.2.0.9?) Hmmm, I will take a look at that. I have done some work to try to make libfpx "appear" portable, but since it wasn't written portably from the start (and uses legacy C++ rather than modern C++) there are still hidden portability problems which require a dedicated maintainer to resolve.
